One of my biggest wishes for TOR isn’t some amazing combat system, although that would be nice. And it’s not some ground breaking, non-leveling system, although that would be nice, too. No, after years of being disappointed by this in MMOs, I’d simply love to see the game feature unique character names based on firstnames and surnames together, rather than firstnames only.
So rather than one person on the server using the name “Troy”, for example, if the server can recognise firstnames AND surnames as one unique name, we could have Troy Smith, Troy Jones, Troy Brown and any other Troy with a different surname, co-existing on the same server.
Basically, we need to get away from this concept that if one person grabs the name, “Troy” or “Luke” or “Steve” that no one else on that server, ever again, can have that name. It’s too limiting, especially over time. Would you guys like to see that? Drop me a line, below and comment.
That would be an awesome thing to have. I can’t count how many times i wasn’t able to have my name in a game because someone had already taken it.
Star Wars Galaxies had first names and surnames but they weren’t recognized as one name.
Would be cool to have still, that you can choose to have only a firstname for those who like to come up with clever witty names for their characters.
I would bet money you would see a Mr Smith and Mrs Smith if this happened too haha
This would be a huge upgrade, and a rather simple one coding wise. I’ve never understood why it wasn’t done. The technology available and hardware capabilities make it VERY doable.
I think that would be pretty cool to see, I don’t know if it eould be my greatest wish, but it would be mice to have a semi normal array of names.
It’s not my greatest wish, either. It’s a ‘big’ wish.
It would be nice to see something like that just to allow a lot more customization. I always thought surnames were a nice touch to add a bit more color to your character.
